DeLayne (Dee) grew up within a Christian family (one of her grandfathers was a minister and teacher to a Spanish speaking church) here in Torrance.  Unfortunately in college, she challenged her beliefs and thought God was lacking in giving her what she wanted, what she thought she needed.   It took 15 years to stop her rebellion and repent, and it was because of a co-worker who prayed for her and continued to invite her to church again.  She had to work through some of the consequences of her rebellion but God was with her and lead her through that time.  He also blessed Dee in this time and led her to a Perspectives course and Short Term Mission conference.  She began to coordinate and lead mission trips experiencing God’s people in many ways and the heart He has to share the Gospel in these areas.  This is where Dee’s passion continues to be placed – reaching the unreached.

In 2011, Dee began attending KHC and also jumped into serving as an elementary teacher at the Saturday night service and has been doing so ever since.  She started working at KHC in 2015 as the International Mobilization Coordinator.

As coordinator, Dee assists Pastor Dan administratively and as a liaison with the home team leaders, missionaries, and ministry leaders.  She helps communicate to the church the events and ministries associated with mobilization via the website, bulletin, announcements, and kiosk boards.  In addition, she is the coordinator for the Perspectives Course and researches other opportunities to educate and engage our church community in reaching out to the unreached (here and abroad).  Dee also teaches the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade class on Saturday nights.

Her favorite part about her job is the people.  Dee loves to spend time with people – listening and working together on projects; working with our families sent out into the field; seeing the different ministries working in our community that help and strengthen it through prayer and outreach.

When not working, Dee enjoys travelling, going to the beach, reading, travelling some more, learning new-to-her recipes, and spending time with her sister and cousin (getting into mischief and laughing a lot).  Dee currently lives in Lomita Beach.
