Mike, Sky, Apollo, and Julius

I am the third and youngest child of an immigrant family from Ghana, West Africa, raised just outside Oklahoma City. I cannot remember a season when my parents didn’t have our family in church, and around the age of 8, I asked Jesus to save me. However, my adolescent and early teenage years were marked with arrogance and rebellion against the Lord. Then, during my high school years, the Lord renewed my commitment to him. In the subsequent years, the Lord allowed me to serve as a staff member overseeing children, students, young adults, and small groups through various churches in Oklahoma and Texas. In 2017, He opened the door for me to become the lead pastor here at King’s Harbor Church.

It was by His grace that I met the love of my life, Sky. We’ve been married since February of 2012. In March of 2018, we had the privilege of welcoming our first son, Apollo. Our second son, Julius arrived in July of 2021.

My Hope for King's Harbor

My hope for King’s Harbor is that we continue to be people who are dynamic, diverse, and flourishing. I often pray that we would experience and express the fullness of the emotions that come with following Jesus. I pray we are people capable of honest lament and unspeakable joy. I pray we are a church that is more than just a room with multiple ethnicities, but rather a church that embraces the cultures those ethnicities represent. Finally, I pray we are people who know the abundant life that Jesus promises. We are not called to hang on for dear life until He returns; we are meant to flourish and multiply.

This or That?

Red Vines or Twizzlers?

Feels like choosing between the lesser of two evils. Both are gross.

Early Morning or Late Night?

Definitely late night, but my kids have decided otherwise.

The Office or Parks and Rec?

Parks and Rec! The Office is classic and the stars on the show are great characters, but the entire cast of Parks and Rec is hilarious. I can go on and on about different bits on the show, like “Treat Yo’ Self”.

Cake or Pie?

And cookies and ice cream and candy and popsicles and…
